Dawn has been a grassroots organizer engaged in a range of social, economic, racial and environmental justice organizations and fights in the Bay Area and nationally for over 20 years. Prior to joining RTTC, Dawn was the Program Director at Causa Justa::Just Cause (CJJC) a grassroots membership organization focused on community development, housing, and immigrant justice issues in the California Bay Area; and a founding member of the Right To The City Alliance. Additionally, Dawn has served as Executive Director of People United from a Better Oakland and as the Organizing Director for Building Opportunities for Self- Sufficiency (BOSS). Dawn has helped develop and lead local, regional, statewide and national campaigns, participated and led numerous coalitions and movement formations and authored several nationally recognized reports and articles on topics ranging from equitable development, land and housing justice, grassroots organizing, movement building and strategy. Dawn was lead author on CJJC’s report “Development Without Displacement: Resisting Gentrification in the Bay Area” which discussed the impacts of gentrification and displacement on working class communities of color and included policy recommendations for addressing these issues. Dawn is an immigrant from Singapore and a male-identified transgender person based in Oakland, California.

Carmen Medrano is the Executive Director of United for a New Economy and UNE Action. She was born in Mexico and came to the United States at the age of 4. Carmen grew up in Colorado’s Western Slope and graduated from the University of Denver with a B.A. in Psychology. She began her career with the Colorado Faith in Action affiliate, where she was part of the formation of a statewide coalition that led to the passage of legislation for instate tuition for undocumented students. During her tenure she organized at a national level with Faith in Action’s Campaign for Citizenship and led the merger of five separate organizations into one regional powerhouse in the Central Valley of California. In 2020, Carmen co-chaired the statewide campaign that successfully passed paid family and medical leave for all workers in Colorado, becoming the first state in the nation to pass this policy through the ballot. Currently she sits on the board of Partnership for Working Families, Right to the City Action, New Era Colorado and Youth Forward. Carmen discovered her voice and power through community organizing, and her vocation is to walk with others through this same journey. She believes this is what can transform Colorado and our country. Carmen lives in Denver with her husband and rambunctious toddler.

With a fresh pair of eyes from the neighborhoods of Boston and a savvy way of thinking and shaping community and political organizing, Noemi, aka Mimi, has hit her 17th year fighting for social, racial and economic justice within the City of Boston. Mimi has gained most of her experience from working on direct advocacy issues such as Earned Sick, Early Education, Housing Justice, Worker Rights and the power of Base Building connected to Civic Engagement. The strength of her organizing has been focused on local power that deepens and strengthens the leadership led by black and brown resident leaders and building intentional relationships and partnerships with allies, that reflect and support building the strength and long term agenda that centers communities of color and working class neighborhoods. Some of the partnerships and spaces Mimi has been helping to build, shape and is proud to be connected to; are key organizations such as Right to the City Boston and Right to the City VOTE, Community Labor United and the MassVoter Table. She is a young Black-Latina from Dorchester who learned how to move through the political system, in order to help others become a voice in their own community. Her continued support from family and close friends have given her the motivation and courage to keep building. She always says she learned grace and courage from her mother, strategy from her father, how to be bold from her grandmother and how to never forget where we come from and always move with love from her two brothers.

Andrea is a lifelong Brooklynite, who is passionate about building strong and stable communities. She came to the Met Council after being the Volunteer Manager at Hunger Free America. Andrea has previously worked as a field organizer and lobby day coordinator for a political consulting firm. She has also worked closely with the domestic workers rights movement both nationally and locally as part of Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ), where she is on the board. Andrea has a Masters in Social Work specializing in Community Organizing from Silberman School of Social Work. She has also been a Grace Paley Organizing Fellow and Rene Cassin Human Rights Fellow. Before returning to school, Andrea worked in the development department at the Metropolitan Opera. When not organizing, she has a passion for art and cooking.

Rev. Raymond E Greene Jr is the founding Executive Director of The Freedom BLOC, The Founding Director of The Freedom ROC, and former Field Director for Black Fork Strategies and has been working as an organizer and electoral operative in Ohio for more than 15 years. He has founded grassroots organizations such as My Brother’s Keeper NEO, which focused on training and supporting formerly incarcerated men, served as a pastor of a local church, and has worked as an organizer and field staff for the Ohio Organizing Collaborative and Stand Up for Ohio. In 2018, Ray led Black Fork’s voter registration program that successfully registered over 140,000 voters, served as the deputy director for signature collection for Issue 1 that successfully qualified for the ballot, and led the Get Out the Vote operation which knocked on more than 350,000 doors. Ray has held almost every position in an electoral program – as a canvasser, phone bank lead, directing a local office, as a regional director, and statewide program director. He has also worked on a variety of programs and developed Black Fork’s popular education curriculum. Ray has also been deeply involved in local and statewide organizing around campaigns such as Issue 10 which provided Akron with one of the most progressive Oversight Police Boards in the Country, Ending The School to Prison Pipeline, reforming housing policy in Akron, bail reform, and statewide policy to eliminate collateral sanctions for returning citizens. Ray is a graduate of Ohio Christian University, where he graduated with his Associate's Degree in Pastoral Studies and his Bachelor's Degree in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling.
