For our communities to win we can not rely on traditional Democratic Party models and strategies that have lost elections and taken away power from the working class. Digital organizing, grassroots base building, long-term base building strategies, and strategic communication tactics can give organizations the tools to engage their communities, push their own narrative, and build the Renter Nation. It’s clear to us that elected officials need to be accountable to the tens of millions of renters across the country who are facing the worst housing crisis in generations. With a translocal renter and homeowner voting bloc,we can take this rising renter power to state houses, Governor offices,and the White House.

Winning policy fights that benefit our communities requires wielding legislative power. Achieving legislative power necessitates a base of elected officials accountable to our communities. To ensure these officials remain accountable, we must possess electoral power — the ability to either elect candidates who will legislate on our behalf or to remove those who do not.
