about us

Right to the City Action is focused on expanding the political, narrative, and governing power of the Renter Nation —
by leveraging electoral organizing to strengthen national
housing strategy.

WHAT WE DO

Right to the City Action's resources go to organizations on the ground who are using endorsements, elections, ballot measures, and electoral organizing to build membership, change policy, and elect housing advocates. We believe electoral power has to start at the local level, so we develop electoral organizing strategies that are guided and led by our member groups who are deeply rooted in their communities.

Our approach

Right to the City Action trains and engages organizations in the theory and strategy of electoral organizing and resources our members to do this critical work.

For our communities to win we can not rely on traditional Democratic Party models and strategies  that have lost elections and taken away power from the working class. Digital organizing, grassroots base building, long-term base building strategies, and strategic communication tactics can give organizations the tools to engage their communities, push their own narrative, and build the Renter Nation. It’s clear to us that elected officials need to be accountable to the tens of millions of renters across the country who are facing the worst housing crisis in generations. With a translocal renter and homeowner voting bloc,
we can take this rising renter power to state houses, Governor offices,
and the White House.
